IN MEMORY
No mother should bury a child to hatred. No sister, no daughter, should ever have to.
We Speak YOUR NAMES.
In MOMERY OF HAUS OF KHAMELEON MEMBERS MURDERED.
Today, we hold the weight of stolen sunsets. We feel the silence where laughter should be.
This Transgender Day of Remembrance, we, the Haus of Khameleon—a transgender-led movement in the heart of Fiji and the Pacific—grieve. We grieve not as a statistic, but as a family kneeling beside fresh graves. We mourn our sisters, our siblings, our warriors, whose vibrant lives were brutally cut short by the poison of hatred.
They were not just names on a list. They were the echo of a familiar laugh in a crowded room. They were the hand that held ours when our own families let go. They were the fierce, beautiful defiance in a world that told them to be small. They were the future leaders, the aunties, the hearts of our community. They were us.
And now, they are gone.
This pain is a fire in our bones. It is the sharpest truth we know: to be trans in this world is to live with a target on your back, a target placed there by ignorance, by bigotry, by laws and attitudes that deem our lives disposable.
But we are the Haus of Khameleon. We are the descendants of ocean voyagers. Our resilience is carved from ancient waves and volcanic rock. We will not be swept away.
Our grief is not a quiet prayer; it is a war cry.
Our tears are not a sign of weakness; they are the water that will nourish the seeds of revolution.
We vow to the spirits of our stolen siblings:
We will be the thunder of your silenced voices.
We will be the fortress that protects those who remain.
We will turn our pain into an unbreakable promise—a promise to fight, to demand, to exist so loudly that your names are etched into the history of this region as the martyrs who ignited our fiercest love.
To our community: Hold each other. Love with a ferocity that terrifies the darkness. Check on your siblings. Be the family you needed.
To the world: See our pain. See our power. We are not asking for your tolerance. We are demanding our rightful, joyful, and SAFE existence. We are the Haus of Khameleon. We are the legacy of those we've lost, and we will not rest until that legacy is one of freedom.
Rest in Power, our beloved family. Your blood waters our liberation.
