SULIQUE VENUS WAQA
Sulique Waqa is the visionary Founder of Haus of Khameleon, where she served as Creative Director and Lifetime Board Member. A trailblazing transgender feminist of Indigenous Fijian descent, she has dedicated over 18 years to advancing LGBTIQ rights across the Pacific, establishing herself as a pivotal leader in Fiji’s movement.
For a decade, Sulique has spearheaded the Adi Senikau Pageant—Fiji’s most prestigious transgender pageant—showcasing her commitment to visibility and empowerment. Her influence extends to the Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Festival Committee (Hibiscus Events Group Inc.), where she lends her strategic expertise.
A respected advocate, Sulique has held key roles with the Asia Pacific Transgender Network (APTN), serving on its Regional Steering Committee, and contributed to ILGA Oceania’s Board. She also made history as an elected member of the inaugural FRIDA - Young Feminist Fund Board, completing a transformative three-year term.
In 2020, Salty—a global feminist platform—honored Sulique as one of the "Faces of the Global Resistance" (Global South) in their International Women’s Day special, cementing her legacy as a force for change.

HANNAH MARA
Hannah Mara is an Indigenous Vakasalewalewa, Trans activist, and human rights defender whose journey in advocacy began over a decade ago, born from both personal lived experience and an unwavering commitment to justice. Proudly rooted in Pacific traditions while breaking boundaries, Hannah has become one of the region’s most visible voices for the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming peoples.
From local community gatherings to national policy tables, Hannah brings a unique blend of cultural grounding and fearless activism, working at the crossroads of gender equality, climate resilience, and Indigenous sovereignty. Their leadership has inspired many across the Pasefika region, not only through advocacy but by living authentically and unapologetically in spaces where visibility is an act of resistance.
Hannah's work has been celebrated with national and regional honors, crowned Adi Senikau in 2016 and awarded the Lady Kirah Rainbow Youth Leader Award at the 2023 Pasefika Pride Awards, recognitions that reflect both personal resilience and a deep commitment to community empowerment. Beyond titles and awards, Hannah’s true legacy lies in the lives touched, the voices amplified, and the bridges built between cultures, generations, and movements.
Guided by a vision of a Pacific where diversity is honored, climate justice is championed, and every identity is free to thrive, Hannah continues to stand on the frontlines, challenging inequality, reshaping narratives, and ensuring that the next generation inherits a more inclusive and just region.

METUISELA TALALA (MAMA JUNE)
Metuisela Talala is a pioneering advocate for transgender rights in Fiji and the Pacific, renowned for her unwavering commitment to equity, justice, and community empowerment. As a founding member of Haus of Khameleon, she played an instrumental role in shaping the organization’s early vision, laying the groundwork for its transformative impact on transgender and LGBTQ+ communities in Fiji.
Today, as the Board Chair, Metuisela leads strategic initiatives that amplify the voices of transgender women, advocating for gender-affirming healthcare, inclusive policies, and systemic legal reforms. Her leadership has been pivotal in driving grassroots mobilization, from organizing landmark community events to spearheading advocacy campaigns that challenge stigma and discrimination.
A respected figure in regional movements, Metuisela collaborates with civil society partners, policymakers, and international allies to advance transgender rights across the Pacific. Her work underscores the intersection of human rights, public health, and social justice—ensuring that marginalized communities are not only seen but also centered in conversations about equality.
Beyond activism, Metuisela is a mentor and catalyst for change, empowering emerging leaders to continue the fight for a Fiji—and a world—where transgender women and LGBTQ+ individuals can thrive with dignity and safety.
